The EU webinar “Entrepreneurship in the organic seeds and breeding sector” will take place next 13 and 14 December 2023, 9h30-13h00 CET. Their aim is strengthening the knowledge and skills needed, of existing or potential initiatives, to undertake an entrepreneurial activity in the organic seeds and plant breeding sector.

This first session is presented as a general framework and the following ones will address specific related elements in more detail.

Target group

The activity is aimed both at existing initiatives wishing to improve their strategy and at those that want to become entrepreneurs in the organic seed and plant breeding sector. It is particularly aimed at organic farmers and SME managers involved in the production and/or marketing of organic seeds and seedlings and the development of organic breeding.

Target crops and varieties

The webinar will contribute to initiatives working on different crops types, in particular arable crops and vegetables. At the varietal level, it will pay special attention to organic heterogenous material (OHM), open-pollinated and local/traditional varieties, as well as participatory plant breeding.

Practical aspects

The webinar will be held in English. In addition, interpretation will be available in a European language to be determined according to the possibilities and needs of a larger number of registered participants.

After the activity, the recordings will be uploaded to the LiveSeeding Youtube channel for dissemination. Subtitles for the webinar will be enabled in different languages.

Speaker presentations will be sent to all participants translated into their language.
