By ideally walking along the ancient route of the Via Traiana, the Cross Border Olive project (CBO INTERREG IPA CBC) sought to link Italy, Albania and Montenegro through their historic age-old olive groves and the cultures that have developed over the centuries around them.

Activities to raise awareness of olive tree significance in the area, to promote conscious traveler routes,to protect and enhance this heritage and set up rural development programmes, combined with the local attractiveness for nature tourism, are some of the strengths of this project, which led to develop relevant good practices all along the ancient olive tree route.

The results of these activities will be presented and discussed during a conference on 'Eco-sustainable enhancement of ancient olive groves: the experience of the Cross-Border Olive project', organised by CIHEAM Bari, which will be hosted on 25 February at "Albergabici”, ex S.S. 16 Fasano-Ostuni km 870, in Ostuni (BR).

A guided bike tour across ancient olive groves and a tasting of typical local products will follow the conference.
