Article 11(1) of Regulation (EC) No 1235/2008 indicated the final date for the receipt of new applications for recognition of control authorities and control bodies for the purpose of equivalence under the old regime. That deadline was set at 30 June 2020. Due to the VCD-19 pandemic, it was necessary to review the date of application of Regulation (EU) 2018/848, which was postponed by one year, as well as other dates provided for therein.

It is therefore necessary to amend Article 11 of Regulation (EC) No 1235/2008 in order to align the date of receipt of new applications for recognition of control authorities and control bodies for the purpose of equivalence under the old import regime with the date of establishment of the new import regime in Regulation (EU) 2018/848. The deadline has therefore been set at 30 June 2021.
