European Court of Auditors: a special report on the control system for organic products

Since 1991, the EU established a control system that regulates the production, processing, distribution and import of organic products. This system gives consumers the certainty that the rules for organic products are applied at each stage of the supply chain. In recent years, the EU organic sector has developed rapidly. Checking the follow-up given with his special report No 9/2012 published in June 2012, the Court found out that the control system improved, and its recommendations were generally implemented even if some challenges remain to be addressed.


IFOAM EU meets business - Bringing the organic food industry together

"IFOAM EU event is organised (Bussels, 30 October) to give  IFOAM EU, its Interest Group of Organic Processors and Traders (IGOP) and food companies the opportunity to discuss relevant topics in the organic sector, to share information and exchange on best practices, to understand each other’s perspectives and most importantly to debate and shape the direction to take in the next working period. 


Ministerial Decree No 18354: in the Official Gazette the abrogation decree

MIPAAFT published in the Official Gazette of the Italian Republic (5 September 2018) the new decree No 6793 including provisions for the implementation of Reg. (EC) No 834/2007 and Reg. (EC) No 889/2008 and their subsequent amendments and integrations, related to organic production and labelling of organic products. This decree repeals and replaces the Ministerial Decree of 27 November 2009 No 18354.


IFOAM EU 5th Organic Processing Conference

IFOAM EU and Bionext  have launched the 5th Organic Processing Conference: “Improving Organics: Making it happen – Digital opportunities for organic processors” organized in co-operation between IFOAM EU and Bionext. The conference will take place on 16-17 January in Zwolle, The Netherlands.


New rules for electronic certification of EU organic imports from third countries

The European Commission has published the new EU rules introducing a system of electronic certification for imported organic products . The new rules  will be applied in 6 months, from 19 April 2017.
