Organic peppers: more vitamin C and phenolic compounds than the conventional

Peppers grown organically contain more vitamin C (ascorbic acid) and higher levels of phenolic compounds, a natural antioxidant, than those cultivated conventionally. This has been shown by researchers from the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV) in a study that focuses on peppers, although their conclusions could be extrapolated to other crops, such as tomatoes and other vegetables.


FIBL: the new 2018 Activity Report

The 2018 report on the research activity carried out by FIBL, the Research Institute for Organic Agriculture is now available. FIBL has several offices in Europe, in Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Hungary and France, and the last one was opened in Brussels two years ago.


Organic production in developing countries: a study on how to increase it

A recent study published in the Proceedings series of Advances in Social Science, Education and Humanities Research reveals that, while many farmers in Indonesia want to transition to organic and know the regulations, more research and extension would help them actually implement organic management. In this study, researchers surveyed 70 rice farmers in Indonesia and found that the vast majority of them know about organic practices required to comply with certification, but they face challenges to implementing these practices.


EIP - AGRI: research of experts in the poultry field

Research and Innovation are two themes identified in the "Italian Strategic Plan for the development of the organic system". A decree initiating the public selection for the granting of contributions aimed at the development of projects on  the two important organic agriculture have been signed by the Ministry of Agriculture . The total amount of resources available for research funding is 3,000,000 Euro.
