Brexit: what consequences for the EU organic sector?

EOCC, the European Organic Certifiers Council, after a discussion with the British representatives both of the DEFRA (Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs of the United Kingdom) and of the UK Mission UK at the European Union, sent a series of information to the associated Control Bodies  on the consequences of Brexit for EU countries and for the trade in organic products between EU  and the United Kingdom.

Imports from third countries: TRACES system soon into force

Next 19 October the use of the new electronic certification system for imports of organic products will become mandatory. The electronic certificate aims at improving traceability of imported organic products and reduce potential fraud. So, from 19 October 19, only certificates issued via the electronic system will be valid. The electronic certificate is accessible through the TRACES (Trade Control & Expert System) system, the EU electronic system to monitor foodstuffs movements throughout the EU.
