Organic aquaculture: the "FutureEUAqua" project (IT)

Funded by the EU under Horizon 2020, the objective of the FutureEUAqua project is to effectively promote sustainable growth of environmentally friendly organic and conventional aquaculture of major fish species and of low-trophic level organisms resilient to climate change, with the aim of addressing future challenges related to the growing consumer demand for high quality, nutritious and responsibly produced food.

To provide a quick overview of what FutureEUAqua is doing and its expected impact, project partner Federation of European Aquaculture Producers (FEAP) developed a comprehensive infographic, which can be downloaded at this LINK. The themes developed are sustainable farming, ingredients and feed, consumer and regulatory activities, quality and safety of aquaculture products, monitoring technologies and production systems.

The project has been running since October 2018 and will end at the end of 2022. The Norwegian Institute for Food, Fisheries and Aquaculture Research (Nofima) coordinates it, joined by several European partners, including numerous Italians. IFOAM UE is also involved in training, capacity building, communication and dissemination activities.
