Agrochemicals: the Implementing Regulation 408/2015 has now been published in the Official Journal of the European Union. The Regulation is on implementing Article 80(7) of Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council concerning the placing of plant protection products on the market and establishing a list of candidates for substitution. It is a draft list of 77 pesticide active substances that are identified as candidates for substitution when assessed against the criteria set out in Regulation 1107/2009.  Plant protection products containing these active substances will be subject to comparative assessment to determine whether they can substituted with "more green" substances. Comparative assessment has to be applied to applications for authorisation of plant protection products containing these substances that are submitted from 1 August 2015. The candidates for substitution include also the copper-based products, whose use is still authorized until 31 December 2018.
